Blue lagoons are another thing apart from Tubing that made Vang Vieng famous among travelers. Even though they are quite touristy, they are really fun and worth visiting. All of them have the legendary turquois water (due to limestone), and a nice views of the hills. So, which ones should you visit?
BLUE LAGOON 1
As the name suggests Blue lagoon No. 1 is located closest to Vang Vieng – 7 km away (google map). The road is mostly pavement, so you can easily bike there, go on rented scooter or get a tuk-tuk.
As it is the closest one, so it obviously has most visitors, however the area is quite large, so they spread out. We did not feel like being in a crowd.
The major attraction of course is the lagoon with jumping platforms from the tree and some fish in it. Zip line and slides are available for extra charge. There is local restaurant if you want to grab a bite and a spacious area with mats for sunbathing.
Entrance fee: 10 000 KIP
BLUE LAGOON 2
The road from Lagoon No. 1 to Lagoon No. 2 (google map) is really bumpy, unpaved and about 7 km long, so a bike is no longer an option, even a scooter is not too comfortable but manageable. After a day on these roads, your butt will need a retreat :) The recommended means of transportation would be a tuk-tuk or a buggy car, however they are much more expensive. We scarified our butts and drove on a scooter.
This lagoon has several pools, a zip line, a jumping tower, some new construction in progress, and wooden sunbeds. A very nice place to relax and to enjoy the view. Much less people compared to Lagoon No. 1
Entrance fee: 10 000 KIP
BLUE LAGOON 3
From Lagoon No. 2 it will be another 9 km on a gravel road, located next to Blue Springs & Patong Cave (google map).
If previous lagoon was well fit for relaxing, Lagoon No. 3 is perfect for some action. It has tubes, a zip line jump into the water, and a bar… What else do you need?
200 m walk from the lagoon you can find a cave. It is a long and nice one, we could not even reach the end of it as we got bit claustrophobic. That’s how exciting it was :)
As the lagoon lays by the hill it casts a shadow in the afternoon, and it get bit chilly, so make sure not to arrive late.
Entrance fee: 10 000 KIP
BLUE LAGOON 4
We were following the signs on the road, however, did not manage to find it. After driving 1 km from the main road practically into a field until it seemed there was no road anymore, we turned around. Hope, you will be luckier and find it :)
BLUE LAGOON 5
As it was the furthest one (google map) and the sun was already setting down, we decided to finish our exploration and leave Lagoon 5 for the next visit to Vang Vieng.

The main tip is to start your journey early if you want to explore more than three lagoons, or do them in two days, if you have time.
