A BITE OF TUSCANY

We were spending a weekend in a villa in Tuscany and while browsing for places to eat around were we stayed, came across a Dario Cecchini place, made famous by the Netflix series Chef’s Table.

They have a set menu of five meat dishes serving different cuts of beef. It is served two times a day - lunch and dinner. Reservation is mandatory.

The whole atmosphere brings a community and family feeling. The food is served at once for all guests from one big piece if meat. If you didn’t have enough, you can always ask for more. But keep in mind, that you will be served five dishes of around 100 g of pure meat each. So, even if you really liked the first or second one, wait for the last one not to have meat sweat afterwards 

Nobody could describe better the spirit of the place than the owner himself:

“You won’t find a “restaurant” here, nor a “table for two”. You won’t find a menu to order from, nor a wine list.

What you will find is a butcher shop, with a butcher block and counter that have been here for eight generations, a grill and kitchen. You’ll find a long table filled with strangers with whom you’ll share every meat dish, every side dish and every flask of wine, and you’ll find our young team serving you course after course of beef, accompanying you in our daily celebration, a Renaissance-style “convivio”.

Because just like our Tuscan ancestors, many centuries ago, today at Macelleria Cecchini in Panzano in Chianti, people from all over the world and from every corner of Italy gather in convivio, all together, to thank the animal for its sacrifice and for the gift of its meat, gift that feeds our life, in a daily laic ritual.”

As the menu is fixed, the price is also fixed. Dinner price is 50 EUR including drinks, paid personally on departure. If you wish to bring your own vine, you are more than welcome. Restaurant also serves Vegetarian menu, however it cost the same 50 EUR which, to be fair, is not really value for money. But hey, It’s a MEAT restaurant!
